What makes this calendar special ...

Exclusive insights: You can not only enjoy the great motifs of this calendar, but also take a look behind the scenes: Gabriele tells you exciting stories about the stud farms and horses on each back of the monthly sheets and gives you very personal insights into her life as a horse photographer.

Friesian horses are simply something special, they have such a positive, almost mystical charisma.

When the black pearls of Friesland come into the limelight at a show, a murmur goes through the rows of spectators. They are pure magic! Fairy tales seem to be woven into her flowing mane and their long hairs at their legs makes them look like flying above the ground. My favorite thing is to photograph theses horses in their native surrounding. In Friesland you can still find families who proudly present their horses in front of the historic carriage of the region: the Sjes - a living tradition and a dream for every photographer.

Special: A large photo poster with an overview for 2020 on the back page is attached to each calendar  - especially for you to hang on your wall.Format: 51 x 98 cm

Let this calendar take you into the magical world of Friesland's black pearls and accompany you month after month through your year!

Insights into the calendar

On arrival at Oberuff Friesian Stud you have the sensation of having landed right in the midst of a Grimms‘ fairytale: idyllic timber-framed buildings, walls covered in blue and pink flowers, old sandstone steps and rustic masonry, full of nooks, crannies and peaceful hidden spots. There are loose boxes and stables out of which content looking horses are gazing curiously. The inner courtyard is romantically shaded by an extre- mely old oak tree – and subconsciously you find yourself looking for the mythical crea- ture which might be living there.

Stress-free is the expression which spontaneously occurs to me in this connection! As soon as I got out of the car, even as my foot touched the cobblestones of the court- yard, I forgot completely how long I had driven along the narrow lanes to get here, to arrive in the depths of Hessian fairy tale country.
Yes, and then Sylvia Schädlich came out to welcome me with such a warm smile and open manner, so carefree, and happy that I had actually come to this very short-term appointment. We hit it off immediately and my first intuitive impression on the tele- phone was confirmed when I met her. She showed me her stallions and mares, and I was very enthusiastic, not only about the charisma and beauty of the Friesians, but also about the relaxed attitude they conveyed.

A sense of excitement was very quickly created, however, because Gabriele Boiselle was there and we wanted to take photographs. A whole team of kind helpers groomed and polished the stallions until their coats really shone, set up a little enclosure on the enormous woodland meadow, as well as everything else that was required for our shoo- ting. The first stallion had no desire whatsoever to remain in the „new“ enclosure and played the game: I can sneak away under the rope as often as I like... He enjoyed it and we almost melted away in the sun because we had selected a day when the temperature rose to at least 34 degrees. So photos with Friesians running loose on too big a meadow was an absolute non-starter.
